BostonInspired in part by Cuban poet and artist Severo Sarduy’s idea that biography usually happens before birth and then expands (or dilates), Dilated Biography: Contemporary Cuban Narratives, curated by Havana-based Jorge Antonio Fernández Torres, brings together works by 15 contemporary Cuban artists who examine the manifold stories of this island country. Cuba’s history is the product of a mixture of cultural narratives, and exhibited artists draw from personal experience and the country’s social and political past and present.
Organized by The School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston in collaboration with the Centro de Arte Contemporáneo Wilfredo Lam.
